INSURANCE, ALCOHOL AND EXTENSIONS
Fabric is owned by the City of Tempe and insurance is required.
All corporate applicants applying for special event permits must be self-insured and provide a COI as per City of Tempe requirements.
Non-profits and individuals can operate their non-alcoholic event under Fabric Tempe's general liability and special event insurance on file with the City of Tempe. Please contact us for more information.

Events serving alcohol require special event permits/licenses. In addition, all events require a fully executed Use Agreement (contract) with Fabric Tempe. Please contact us for more information.
Extension of Premises
Use of FABRIC's space beyond the courtyard and/or 6th ST is considered and extension of premises. You'll need to file a Special Event Permit Application with the City of Tempe and attend a hearing. Special Event Permit Application must be submitted 60 days prior to the event to avoid late fees of an additional $50.

Non- Alcoholic Event
If you are hosting an event inside FABRIC and not serving alcohol there is no permit required.
Event with Alcohol
In order to serve alcohol at your event, you'll need a provisional liquor license. Non-profits with 501(c)(3) status can apply for their own provisional liquor licenses. If you are a non-profit and apply for your own permit, you will be responsible for all of the expenses required to serve alcohol as required by the city of Tempe and State of AZ. FABRIC charges a $300 corkage fee. Your non-profit keeps the proceeds.
Fabric Tempe, a FABRIC based 501(c)(3), has 10 sponsored liquor licenses available to use each calendar year. A Fabric Tempe sponsored liquor licenses require 100% of the proceeds go to the charity.
Permission is required to use Fabric Tempe as a charitable organization for a provisional liquor license. If you would like to use a Fabric Tempe provisional liquor license you will need to contract licensed and insured bartenders and security personnel as required by the City of Tempe and State of Arizona.
You'll need to acquire a special event permit and liquor license application from the City of Tempe which is $185 (If submitted less than 60 days prior to the event, it is an additional $50).
Once the city has approved the application, a provisional license from the State of Arizona DLLC is an additional $25. 2-3 licensed security guards are needed to monitor the front and rear exists.
Generally, 1 licensed bar tender is required for every 75 people. If you have 3 or more bar tenders then you may need a bar back. Licenses and permits can be applied for at the 2nd floor of Tempe Library on Rural & Broadway. Private parties may not need a permit to serve alcohol, however licensed bartenders and security, as listed above, are still required for insurance purposes.
